Overview

Hainan Medical University, located in Haikou, Hainan Province, is the only public medical school in the Hainan Free Trade Port. It originated from HaiQiang Medical Technology School (1947) and Hainan University Medical College (1948) and has trained over 70,000 medical professionals. The university offers 30 undergraduate majors and has achieved national recognition with 5 first-class undergraduate programs and several national specialties. It excels in tropical medicine, with clinical medicine ranked in the top 1% globally, and maintains 101 teaching and internship bases, including several affiliated hospitals.

The university boasts a faculty of 1,182 full-time teachers, including 181 professors. It is involved in international collaborations with institutions such as the University of Nebraska and Basel University, and has established key research centers in tropical medicine. With a strong emphasis on high-quality education and research, Hainan Medical University contributes significantly to the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port and the Health China strategy.

Admission Requirements

Non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport, law-abiding, healthy, and trustworthy. Age: 18-30 (self-funded students may be considered). HSSC DMC and certificate with qualifying grades.

Affiliated Hospitals:

Hainan Medical University has 3 directly affiliated hospitals, including Hainan General Hospital, the First Affiliated Hospital, and the Second Affiliated Hospital. Additionally, it has 8 non-directly affiliated hospitals and 12 teaching hospitals, providing extensive clinical training resources for its students.

Student and Faculty:

Currently more than 500 foreign students from different countries including Pakistan are studying MBBS. 7 batches of international students have graduated from Hainan Medical University. The First Clinical College has a total of 689 full-time teachers, including 109 senior professional titles, 133 associate senior professional titles, and a senior professional title ratio of 36%; 52 doctors, 225 masters, and a master-doctor ratio of 39.3%; the average age is about 37.5 years old. There are 8 doctoral supervisors, 50 scientific master supervisors, and 64 professional master supervisors.

Hostels and Facilities:

Accommodation Types and Fees for International Students:Double Room: 4200 CNY per person per year. Rooms are equipped with air conditioning, heating, and a toilet. Internet, water, and electricity fees are paid separately by the students. Triple Room: 2800 CNY per person per year. Quadruple Room: 2100 CNY per person per year.All the rooms are Equipped with air conditioner, heater and toilet; Internet, water and electricity fees shall be paid personally.Notes: International students are required to stay in university dormitories during their first year. From the second year onwards, students may apply to live off-campus in accordance with relevant management regulations.

Degree Duration:

6 Years (5 Years Study+ 1 Year Internship)

Course Structure:

Hainan Medical University offers a 6-year MBBS program for international students, taught entirely in English. This program covers a wide range of medical subjects, including:Basic Medical Sciences:Systematic anatomy, histology and embryology, pathogenic biology, medical immunology, biochemistry and molecular biology, physiology, pathology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, clinical skills, internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, infectious diseases and tropical medicine, neurology, psychiatry, general medicine, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, rehabilitation medicine, emergency medicine, preventive medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, evidence-based medicine, etc.Students will also undergo clinical rotations in various hospital departments to gain practical experience and apply their theoretical knowledge. Note: The specific course structure may vary slightly, but these are the core subjects typically covered in an MBBS program at Hainan Medical University.
